NFL NEWS: Tampa Bay Buccaneers Fire Byron Leftwich... Too Late

Tampa Bay Buccaneers OC Byron Leftwich has been fired. While some are surprised by this move, it makes complete sense.

Byron had the undisputed greatest QB of all time (Brady), one of the best deep threats in the league (Evans), and a number two receiver who would be WR1 on 24 teams right now (Godwin).

In Leftwich's defense, the roster wasn't built to cater to Brady's strengths, but neither was the playbook. Tom thrives with a strong run game and a playbook that gets guys open short and medium distances. Look at the success he had with Gronk.

You can't force a quarterback in his late 40s to throw the ball 70 times per game, especially when a chunk of those throws are deep routes to Evans. Even if the run game isn't working, commit to it. Wear the defense down. Give Brady a break.

Even though firing Leftwich is the right move under the assumption Tom is going to be back, unfortunately for the Bucs, that will likely not be the case. So now the Tampa Bay Buccaneers are back at square one.

No OC. No QB. No hope.

I'd put together a trade for Jameis NOW...
